Below are common questions and answers about our design/build process. Please contact us if you have additional questions.

If we like a floor plan, but want to change it, is that possible?

Absolutely. Our floor plans are starting points, not fixed blueprints. Most clients make at least some modifications — whether that’s adjusting room sizes, moving walls, adding a bedroom, or reconfiguring the layout entirely. Our designer will work with you to understand what you want and translate that into a plan that works structurally and within your budget.

How much can I customize a floor plan?

Quite a bit. Beyond layout changes, you’ll select every finish, fixture, and feature in our design showroom — flooring, cabinetry, countertops, tile, hardware, trim, and more. The floor plan defines the bones of your home; the selections you make at the showroom are what make it feel like yours.

Do you create renderings of what my house will look like?

Yes. We provide exterior renderings so you can visualize your home before construction begins. This helps ensure you’re confident in the design before anything is built.

Are all the floor plans offered in any of Alden Homes’ communities?

Not necessarily. Some communities have specific guidelines around square footage, style, or footprint that may limit which plans are a good fit. When you meet with us, we’ll help you identify which plans work well for the community or lot you’re interested in.

Can I select any of these floor plans to build on my lot?

In many cases, yes. We build on customer-owned lots in addition to our own communities. Factors like lot size, shape, topography, and local zoning all play a role in determining which plans are a good fit. We’re happy to review your lot and help you find the right match.

Can I bring my own floor plan or a design I found elsewhere?

It depends. If you have a plan you love from another source, we can work from it or use it as inspiration. We’ll review it together and discuss any modifications needed to suit your lot, your budget, and our building process.

How long does it take to finalize a floor plan and start building?

The timeline varies depending on the complexity of your customizations. The design and selection process can be short as several weeks. We’ll give you a clearer picture of the expected timeline during your initial consultation.

What’s the best way to get pricing on a floor plan I’m interested in?

Schedule a no-obligation pricing meeting with our designer. Share the plans you’re drawn to and your wish list, and within a day or two we’ll provide you with an itemized pricing estimate — no vague ballpark figures, just a clear breakdown of what your home would cost to build.
